ShutterBlog with Ms. Jojie Alcantara -- The Winning Shot

The winning shot
The day was set for the celebration of Philippine Independence Day but my day was reserved for the ShutterBlog workshop. Even if the weather's gloomy and the rain was pouring all day, there were no any signs that it was going to be a bad day. In fact, that day turned out to be the luckiest day in my photography-life so far!

ShutterBlog is a travel photoblog workshop with Davao City's prime photographer and multifaceted blogger Ms. Jojie Alcantara as the speaker. This event was organized by the fat and fab convenors Avel and Orman Manansala. This was sponsored by CameraHaus of KCC Mall of Gensan with Project "O" Consultants. Gensan View Resort was the perfect the venue for this wonderful event.
This poster was designed by Erwin Bantilan of www.gensanblog.com
As part of the said workshop, we were given most of the afternoon to shoot for anything as long as our photos should have at least three (3) elements of good photography plus a human element within the resort. We were ask to submit just four (4) of our best shoots including the portraiture shot of a beautiful female model named Caroline.

I had so much fun with ShutterBlog not just because I had a productive time spending the holiday, not only because I got another chance to bond with SOX Bloggers, and not only because I can exercise my photography skills (if there's any), and also because I have an upclose encounter with Ms. Jojie Alcantara. There was never a dull moment with her during the entire session. She had imparted practical tips in taking "wow" photos and I was so alive, so impressed so to speak. She's wacky, she's animated, she's witty and she has the smile that can launch a thousand clicks!
A very "wow" good speaker, Jojie Alcantara
Did I say I'm lucky enough that day? Well, I should say I'm the luckiest. I have five (5) reasons of claiming that.

First: I won a raffle prize which rarely happens whenever there are things like that in an event. The good thing is, it's one of the major raffle prizes courtesy of Aromacology! Look what I've got.
Hair Treatment Oil and various soap from Aromacology
Second: One of my four entries to the workshop was chosen by Ms. Jojie Alcantara to be part of the five consolation prizes. I was not expecting it. I captured the photo of a resort guard out of fun that's why I also captured my reflection on the guard's sunglasses. I want to call this photo "The Guard's Shades". Ms. Jojie awarded me La Isla Magazine of AirPhil Express where one of the featured places is SOCCSKSARGEN. Also in this magazine is her ad page where she endorsed medicinal supplements.

Third: CameraHaus awarded me a brand new Samsung ES90 camera with 14.2 Megapixel, 5X Optical Zoom and HD Movie Recording. Cool right? The camera was my prize for bagging my fourth reason on why I'm the luckiest today.

Fourth: Guess what? Ms Jojie Alcantara picked another entry of me to be her grand choice for the ShutterBlog! To my excitement, it seemed like the time stopped for few seconds. I blinked my eyes once more to see that it was really my photo flashed on the screen. I won the camera! And I was in euphoria. I was not also expecting this but the pro has spoken and chosen my photo to be the best among the rest.

Five: ShutterBlog experience is the greatest reason of my being lucky that day. On top of the prizes, this activity has taught me so many valuable things about photography which made me appreciate this craft even more. This workshop has confirmed that I'm on the right track for my passion on taking nice photos. I went home smiling and thinking of  possible greater things to happen beginning that day.

Did I say a lot? Well, my horoscope for that day said:
