Dead Poems Series: "Pre-empted"

I still love my Collection Notebook! As i scanned to its old leaves, my eyes were surprised and found myself recalling one of my favorite entries there - the Dead Poems Series. It's a collection of my very own poems, composed based on how I feel at that moment. You can read my excitement, frustrations, disappointments and any significant feelings that rocked me during that very instant. Yeah! Those were random thoughts translated into lines and stanzas. Some of it were even written in my own vernacular.

I want to share all of those in this modern medium & I will start with a poem that was written on a Monday night of November 20, 2006, Km. 13, Panacan, Davao City. I was on my first days of my first work. Young & away from home, testing the water with less courage to chase the time for more adventure. Then here we go:

PRE-eMPTED

i want to cross a path i’ve never been before
but right on my few steps i was asked to stop…

i’d like to try crazy things just to compare it with the routine
but before taking some leaps i was cursed…

i would love to explore the unravel part of me
but just when i’m about to unmask truth, lies crept in…

i usually attempts to end up red-handed
but even before it happen, i got caught up…

i’m always looking forward to be inspired by anything… anyone…
but all of a sudden, my mood swings…

how about trying not to think something?
maybe just before closing my mind, ideas will just flood in…

More of my Dead Poems in my next blogs!
Enjoy reading.
